The program is organized around functional and vocational recovery. Treatments include group and individual therapy, medication management based on cognitive and behavioral principles, medication management, vocational program, and milieu-based activities to help residents engage in a productive and value-driven life. The Psychiatric Technician is an integral member of the psychiatric residential, hospital-based psych emergency services team and participates in both direct and indirect patient care for adults and children. At the direction of a registered nurse the Psychiatric Technician promotes involvement in the treatment program. Psychiatric Technicians assist residents in various social, clinical, nutritional, and observational activities to ensure optimal patient outcomes and a safe patient milieu. The Psychiatric Technician role plays a crucial role in ongoing safety observation, assessment of the milieu and identification of escalation of concerning behaviors. The Psychiatric Technician plays a key role in leading social activities, games and crafts that promote patients to engage in milieu and practice therapy concepts they are learning within individualized care plans.
