Partners with Clinical Nurse Manager and Clinical Coordinators to drive unit safety, quality outcomes and patient experience. Assists in the development and implementation of unit/service line/area-based competency requirements for nurses and patient care technicians. Promote a positive and professional climate and provide resources for learning that facilitate the life-long learning process. Support and promote specialty certification preparation. Manage education and training processes/activities to foster learning using strategies that engage learners in critical inquiry, critical thinking, problem solving, and foster the development of competence in learners. Mentors and evaluates preceptors to enhance learning experiences for all new hires. Provides guidance for nurses in the "Transition to Practice" program, assisting in identification of a unit based Evidence Based project Organizes and acts as a resource for on unit in-services for new products, equipment, policies/procedures/practice. In collaboration with Clinical Nurse Manager, partner with staff to lead unit council development and participation in shared decision making councils. Demonstrates knowledge of effective communication principles and promotes communication among disciplines. Designs educational programs that employs a variety of teaching-learning strategies and the use of technology. If applicable, includes "skills days" Evaluates all learning activities using objective performance criteria and recommends corresponding changes in education plans. Performs other duties as assigned or required, including direct patient care. Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors. Travel as needed to the hospitals within the NorthShore system. Completes and archives checklists and/or attendance records of educational programs Assists in "Safe Patient Handling" skills day for RN/PCT orientation. Collaborate and standardize educational activities across service lines. What you will need: Bachelors Degree Nursing Required Masters Degree Nursing Preferred Demonstrated clinical nursing expertise with a minimum of 3-5 years of nursing experience in a clinical practice setting. Proficient with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Proficiency in setting up virtual meetings and use of AV materials customary used in presentations. Ability to effectively interact with colleagues and all members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team. Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to engage in dialogue with diverse healthcare audiences Commitment to teamwork; ability to work with others to set and accomplish goals through collaboration and coordination. Presentation skills to provide nursing education to nursing audiences within your department Ability to conduct literature searches to investigate best practices, evidence based practices and/or research articles Willingness to attend educational seminars and conferences as required. Competent in oral and written communication Demonstrate effective leadership and interpersonal skills Possesses basic competency in computer skills.
