CET leads a ~$0.5B portfolio of transportation electrification (TE) programs to increase the adoption of clean vehicles in California as we work to address one of the largest contributors to climate change – and we need a motivated, organized strategic thinker to help us determine how to expand this portfolio. We serve PG&E’s customers by deploying electric vehicle programs to increase access to charging infrastructure and reduce total cost of electric vehicle ownership, educating our customers and pursuing innovative R&D on the future of transportation electrification, focused on vehicle-grid-integration (VGI). Position Summary CET’s Strategy and Policy (S&P) team creates, tests, and advocates for evidence-based clean energy transportation solutions by spearheading pilot projects, policy frameworks, tailored customer offerings, and stakeholder engagement. Our team develops, iterates, and executes on PG&E’s strategy to connect 3 million electric vehicles (EV) to the grid by 2030 and enabling at least 550 MW of flexible load from VGI applications. To do this, the team is focused on the following five pillars below: Build : reimagining how we build the transmission and distribution grid to enable mass EV adoption, Deploy: strategizing how we can enable and deploy VGI at scale, Invest: identifying how we ensure the state meets ambitious charging infrastructure targets and developing new programs to ensure we invest in all of our communities, Serve: working to serve our EV customers in a way that inspires joy and builds trust; and, Create: creating a repeatable and scalable pathway to enable widespread electrification via partnerships and policy advocacy. The S&P Manager will be responsible for leading a team focused on regulatory and policy advocacy and new program development for CET and will set and iterate on the strategic direction for electric vehicles within PG&E, as the lead for PG&E’s EV True North Strategy (TNS). A successful candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills, be a self-starter and quick learner and willing to consider industry trends, the regulatory and policy environment, financial impacts, and customer needs as they develop and execute on strategic initiatives for PG&E and our EV customers. This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory and will be agreed upon by the successful candidate and hiring leader. Preferred work location is Oakland, CA. PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position. The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The range to reasonably expect will be between the minimum and the midpoint of the range. The final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to the factors above. The work of this department is critical in our efforts to find compliance challenges and identify areas of risk so that we can fix them. The main functions of this department are identifying areas of compliance risk and opportunities to mitigate those risks, including through incident reporting and investigations, overseeing Electric Operations and Power Generation Corrective Action Program (CAP), and validating the controls on the organization. Position Summary PG&E is seeking an experienced business professional to be a member of the Electric Compliance Assurance Team as an Incident Investigator. The Investigator will be responsible for investigating incidents or items of interest. The investigations could be of interest to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), or other areas of compliance risk to determine the cause and any corrective or preventive measures to mitigate reoccurrence. Tasks of this team may include some of the following, or similar tasks: Validating policy implications pertaining to FERC and Electric Delivery Partnering with Functional Area Compliance Teams on risk mitigation strategies impacting FERC compliance Investigating potential self-reports to FERC Office of Enforcement Developing Investigation Forms for FERC Compliance Prepare and respond to FERC data requests This role will have a high level of visibility with PG&E leadership and will support one or many aspects of Compliance Assurance’s scope. In this role, you will help leaders stay ahead of emerging regulatory, compliance, and operational risks by turning complex information into clear, decision‑ready insights. You will lead Electric Risk and Compliance’s approach to regulatory and compliance intelligence, using analytics, visualization, and responsibly applied AI to integrate regulatory requirements, enforcement trends, industry signals, and internal risk data. Success in this role requires strong engineering, regulatory, or operations judgment to help leaders understand what is changing, why it matters, and what action may be needed. This role goes beyond traditional analytics or reporting. You will provide structured interpretation, synthesis, and prioritization of complex inputs—using analytical and visualization tools to support technical, regulatory, and operational insight development, reduce ambiguity, surface emerging risks earlier, and support informed leadership decisions. Your work will directly support executive and officer‑level discussions and strengthen PG&E’s proactive compliance posture. The selected candidate must live within PG&E's service territory, and will be exptected to work in the office 2-3 times a week. PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​ A reasonable salary range is: Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area) $129,000.00 Mid Base Salary (Bay Area) $168,000.00 Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area) $207,000.00 Minimum Base Salary (California) $123,000.00 Mid Base Salary (California) $160,000.00 Maximum Base Salary (California) $197,000.00 Responsibilities Build Compliance & Regulatory Intelligence Design and continuously improve Electric’s framework for compliance and regulatory intelligence, including standards, methods, and governance. Integrate regulatory obligations, enforcement trends, industry developments, and internal risk signals into a cohesive intelligence view for leadership. Use analytics and visualization tools to support technical, regulatory, and operational insight development, trend identification, and leadership visibility. Ensure consistency, clarity, and rigor in how insights are generated, visualized, and communicated across the organization. Integrate Emerging Risks & Regulatory Trends Synthesize emerging regulatory, enforcement, and industry signals from partner teams into a clear leadership view. Use analytics and well‑governed AI to detect patterns and surface early risk themes. Apply engineering, regulatory, or operations judgment to clarify implications, urgency, and impact. Partner across Compliance Strategy, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, Operations, and Risk to align signals and interpretations. Deliver Executive‑Ready Insights Develop repeatable insight products such as regulatory briefs, intelligence updates, executive summaries, and interactive Power BI views. Present insights in concise, layered formats tailored to executive and senior leadership audiences. Frame information around material risks, tradeoffs, and decision points—not just data or activity. Enable Governance & Leadership Decision‑Making Support leadership forums by providing early visibility into priority risks, regulatory themes, and cross‑functional dependencies. Use visual analytics and dashboards to help leaders quickly understand trends, emerging issues, and areas requiring attention. Convene cross‑functional discussions to align understanding, resolve ambiguity, and surface key implications. Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders by proactively elevating insights that warrant attention or action. Assess commitments and recommend technically and regulatorily sound containment and countermeasures. Ensure Quality, Integrity & Credibility Establish documentation, definitions, and quality standards to support audit‑ready, defensible insights. Ensure AI and analytics use aligns with data governance, regulatory expectations, and ethical standards. Validate accuracy, consistency, and traceability of information used in leadership discussions. Apply disciplined review practices to ensure insights meet executive and regulatory scrutiny. Qualifications Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, with a strong background in engineering, regulatory, or operations environments. 8 years of related experience or equivalent Desired Qualifications PhD or Master’s degree in Engineering, Data Analytics, or related field. Demonstrated ability to identify trends across complex information and translate them into actionable insights. Ability to use analytics and visualization tools to translate technical, regulatory, and operational complexity into decision‑ready insights. Experience integrating insights into compliance strategy, performance improvement, risk mitigation, and operational decision processes. Experience in utility engineering, regulatory compliance, or operations, with the ability to apply sound judgment to ambiguous or emerging issues. Demonstrated critical thinking and the ability to navigate ambiguity with structure, judgment, and clarity. Proven ability to collaborate across diverse functions and influence enterprise‑wide understanding and priorities. Professional Engineer (P.E.)
