Purpose: Manage overall region estimating services so that work assigned to the team is properly estimated and coordinated with Estimating Leads and other pre-sale functions. Coordinate estimating requirements with all available resources to ensure project and customer needs are met. Supervise/train new estimators, supervise estimators and ensure performance standards are being met. Provide leadership to achieve enterprise goals, including market leading quality, participation, and cultivating a culture of continuous improvement and growth. Responsibilities: • Grow and develop estimating team’s technical skills. • Ensure group alignment in processes and best practices with entire Nucor Rebar Fabrication strategy. • Work with RSM’s to manage and balance estimating resources across region to support regional strategy and initiatives. • Provide industry leading and dependable service that our customers rely on. • Participate in frequent collaborative meetings with other Estimating Supervisors to drive high level initiatives across the entire organization. • Demonstrate leadership consistent with Nucor Rebar Fabrication’s vision and values. • Lead estimating team to achieve enterprise goals, including safety culture and culture of continuous improvement and growth. • Manage the recruitment, hiring, orientation and training of new estimator employees and support personnel. • Oversee the productivity and work quality of the estimators including 3rd party partners to ensure quality, efficiency, accuracy of estimating. Additionally, provide timely response to meet customer needs. • Provide guidance to Estimating Leads to assign all estimating work for region to an appropriate estimator so that estimating can be done efficiently and in accordance with customers’ deadline needs. • Communicate with RSM and DSM to secure projects for estimating as needed to maintain production utilization levels and meet market participation goals. • Develo and maintains relationships with 3rd party estimating support. • Manage the performance appraisal process and recommend appropriate salary adjustments as needed for all estimating personnel; oversee succession planning process. • Must adhere to Nucor Rebar Fabrication’s safety programs and standards. • Keep apprised of any technological developments in estimating methodology and software, and make appropriate recommendations to management so Nucor Rebar Fabrication can estimate as efficiently and effectively as possible. • Possess a thorough knowledge of CRSI and the Manual of Standard Practice and best practices for each branch work is being performed for. • Devise protocols to review and validate estimates for quality and scope adherence. • Develop and track performance indicators impacting utilization and cost. Minimum Qualifications: Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future. At least ten years of experience as a rebar detailer/estimator or equivalent industry experience with at least six years of experience in estimating role. At least one year of estimating knowledge, along with familiarity of estimating OST & ASA. At least three years of experience as a supervisor of estimators. Preferred Qualifications: Two-year technical degree from an accredited school or college. Experience in customer relations and resolving problems or disputes. A basic knowledge of contracts, standard business practices and human relations. Ability to review bid plans to assist in the assessment of the project, project scope and bidding strategy.
