Job Description Job Description About the Opportunity A leading commercial and industrial mechanical contractor in the Southeast is seeking an experienced Traveling Plumbing Superintendent to lead large-scale construction projects across North Carolina and South Carolina. Position Summary The Traveling Superintendent will oversee plumbing construction projects exceeding $7M , with a strong focus on healthcare facilities such as hospitals and medical campuses. This role is responsible for managing field operations, large crews (20), and multi-site coordination , ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and to high-quality standards. Key Responsibilities Project Leadership Lead all phases of plumbing installation (domestic water, sanitary, storm systems) Supervise and coordinate field teams including foremen, journeymen, apprentices, and subcontractors Conduct daily huddles and manage short-term and long-range planning (look-aheads) Coordinate with general contractors, inspectors, engineers, and trade partners Execution & Operations Interpret drawings, specs, RFIs, and applicable codes Track manpower, materials, equipment, and deliveries Maintain accurate field documentation and reporting Ensure compliance with contract requirements and healthcare standards Safety Management Act as on-site Competent Person Enforce OSHA and company safety policies Lead safety meetings, JHAs, and site audits Maintain accurate and timely safety documentation Leadership & Development Mentor and develop field leaders and crews Drive accountability, productivity, and craftsmanship Support workforce development and succession planning Qualifications Required 10 years of plumbing experience 5 years in a supervisory/foreman or superintendent role Proven experience managing large-scale commercial or industrial projects ($5M–$10M) Strong experience in healthcare construction (hospitals, medical facilities) Solid knowledge of plumbing systems, installation methods, and codes Strong leadership, communication, and scheduling skills OSHA 30 (or ability to obtain) Valid driver’s license Willingness to travel extensively Preferred Journeyman license or equivalent experience Additional safety certifications (First Aid/CPR, Fall Protection, Confined Space, etc.) High school diploma or GED Work Environment Projects located throughout NC & SC Significant travel and overnight stays required Availability outside standard hours as needed for project support Compensation & Benefits Competitive base salary Per diem for travel assignments Relocation assistance available Comprehensive benefits package Opportunity to lead high-profile healthcare projects Strong career advancement with a growing regional contractor Apply If you’re a proven field leader with healthcare plumbing experience and thrive in fast-paced, large-scale environments, we encourage you to apply.
