Maintenance Technician (PM Shift)

Job Title: Maintenance Technician Location: Dakota, IL, 61018, (onsite role) Fulltime role with benefits Schedule: Night Shift (6:00 PM to 6:00 AM) (2 Days working 2 days leave then 3 days working 2 days leave) will work every other weekend. Pay rate: 30-35/hr (Depending on the experience) Position Summary: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting the Preventive Maintenance (PM) program to continually reduce unscheduled downtime and ensure the reliability of production equipment and facility systems. This role performs mechanical and electrical maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and assists with equipment startups and changeovers. The technician will also support facility maintenance, including the safe operation of steam boilers, water chillers, cooling towers, well pumps, HVAC, and other utility equipment. The position requires strong communication skills, mechanical aptitude, problem-solving abilities, and adherence to safety, GMP, and food safety standards. Key Responsibilities: Support the PM program to reduce unscheduled downtime and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). Position Requirements / Qualifications: Technical training in a maintenance-related field or at least 3 years of experience in industrial equipment maintenance. Experience with mechanical maintenance, including gearboxes, sprockets/chains, belts, clutches, bearings, brakes, seals, and gaskets. Experience or training in compressed air systems, plumbing/piping, boilers, chillers, and hydraulics is a strong plus. Ability to read and interpret safety rules, manuals, schematics, drawings, and instructions. Computer literacy and basic skills to process work orders. Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. Willingness to work shift schedules, overtime, weekends, and holidays as required. Practical problem-solving skills and ability to deal with a variety of variables. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Willingness to grow maintenance and leadership skills through assigned training. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50–70 lbs., perform repetitive motions, stand for long periods, talk, and hear. Ability to climb ladders and stairways, operate man-lifts/scissor lifts at ceiling heights or above with safety equipment, and work in non-air-conditioned environments. May require entering confined spaces on the manufacturing floor. Frequent walking, handling, and reaching; exposure to oils, greases, and coolants.
