Registered Nurse - Inpatient Cardiac and Vascular Care

Unit Description: Cardiac and Vascular Care (CVC) is a 16-bed unit designated for cardiac and procedural patients requiring a brief hospitalization. Our Registered Nurses care for a variety of patients including those recovering from surgery, interventional radiology procedures, invasive cardiology procedures; including ST-elevation myocardial infarction, non ST-segment myocardial infarction patients, patients requiring percutaneous coronary interventions, and patients requiring antiarrhythmic medication initiation. The average RN to patient ratio is 1:4. The incumbent m ay be required to float on a rotational basis as needed and typically works 2 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule block. Education/Skills Required: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State. BLS or ACLS required with ACLS certification within 6 months of hire. Meets requirements of physical/pre-placement screening. Completion of cardiac rhythm course within three to six months. Completion of stepdown education course within six to twelve months. Unit Description: UVMMC has the only interventional Cath Lab in the state, and we manage patients throughout northern and central VT and upper NY State. We offer state of the art diagnostic, interventional, peripheral, and structural heart procedures. We are an RN only lab with monitor, circulator and scrub roles for all staff. We use multiple modalities including IVUS, OCT, FFR, Impella, IABP in the treatment of our patients with cardiovascular and peripheral disease.
