Responsibilities Work under the direction of the Lead Operator, Earthwork Foreman, Earthwork Superintendent, and/or other designated project leads Follows and maintains safe operating procedures and protocols for all equipment operation and field activity in accordance with Moretrench safety policy and OSHA requirements Safely performs physical duties associated with operation of Moretrench heavy equipment including but not limited to bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, handling, climbing into and out of, and around heavy equipment Works safely in a wide variety of climatic conditions and job site environments commonly found at Moretrench job sites Performs daily greasing and fluid checks and assumes responsibility for the maintenance and safe operation of any and all assigned pieces of equipment Inspects assigned equipment prior to each use; and makes appropriate, accurate, and timely entries into the operator's checklist / equipment log for each piece of equipment operated Immediately reports any equipment damage, maintenance problems or concerns and safety issues to the Foreman and/or Superintendent Follows direction of the Foreman and/or Superintendent to overcome issues with changing and/or unforeseen field conditions or project scope Qualifications Minimum 5 years' experience operating multiple pieces of heavy equipment at Class A operator level Extensive experience in heavy equipment operations involving mass excavations; clearing and grubbing; backfilling and compacting; excavating and pipe laying; and construction and maintenance of embankments, berms, and dikes In the case of a truck loading excavator, the ability to fully and safely load loads trucks in an efficient manner to meet the goals of the project Demonstrate the skills of a finish grade operator (tolerance of 1/10 of a foot or better) on at least one piece of equipment, dozer or excavator Skilled and fully competent in using GPS system as a grading tool to achieve grades Skilled at the practice of operating safely on worksites according to OSHA, MSHA and Moretrench safety protocols and requirements Note that all job site locations are remote and temporary, so a form of transportation is required. Safety Lane Inspector

PURPOSE: The Safety Lane Inspector furnishes quality inspections to the tractor and trailer fleet in a timely and efficient manner, while complying with Marten policy and procedure as well as DOT regulations. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Ability to identify D.O.T. issues on any/all equipment Marten operates. 2. Ensure C.S.A. violations are identified and repaired prior to equipment leaving facility. 3. Clear and concise understanding of the fleets equipment and how to properly maintain the company standard. 4. Capture and inspect all equipment at respective terminals during yard checks and monitoring. 5. Ensure all company, EPA and Safety policies are compiled to meet local, state and federal standards. 6. Accountable for all direct and indirect labor hours on a daily and weekly basis. 7. Completes all repair orders in a timely manner, ensuring all labor and parts are charged to the appropriate unit. 8. Return all unused parts to the parts room and does not abuse company tools. 10. Responsible for the cleanliness of work area, keeping spills, grease and debris to a minimum. 11. Ability to coach and communicate effectively with shop and driving staff. 12. Ability to identify D.O.T. issues on any/all equipment Marten operates. 13. Ensure C.S.A. violations are identified and repaired prior to equipment leaving facility. 14. Clear and concise understanding of the fleets equipment and how to properly maintain the company standard. 15. Capture and inspect all equipment at respective terminals during yard checks and monitoring. 16. Other duties as assigned. ABILITIES/SKILLS REQUIRED: Must possess mechanical skills and aptitude for the position. Must be able to exhibit skills and knowledge through company pre-employment exam. Must be able to read and write English language and have some computer skills. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and be able to stand for long hours. Must be able to work various shifts and days. Must be able to work in all types of climates including extreme hot and cold.
