The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking a Systems Engineer 3 (Mid-level) to focus on system architecture, requirements, and interfaces primarily for the P-8 program. This position reports to the P-8 Systems Engineering group and will be 100% onsite in Tukwila, WA. The P-8 is a high-visibility, advanced commercial derivative military aircraft program supporting the U.S. Navy and international customers. As a Systems Engineer 3, you will apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop, and verify lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. You will evaluate customer and operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters, and assure compatibility of all physical, functional, and program interfaces. Position Responsibilities: Understand the P-8 architecture and interfaces, including assessing impacts of change requests and additions. Update Interface Control Documents (ICDs) at configuration change points. Update architecture block diagrams and box-level interfaces. Coordinate with other engineering IPTs (wiring, cabinets, interiors, etc.) to understand and document pin-to-pin connection requirements. Collaborate with design teams, Navy customers, hardware, and software teams to develop and integrate future upgrades. Develop and monitor requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management, and technology readiness assessment processes. Resolve cross-functional technical issues. Assist with internal research and development (IRAD) projects as needed. This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. A Secret clearance is required. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. Minimum of 5 years of experience working on aircraft systems and/or system architecture and interface definition. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams). Ability to work well in a team environment and independently with minimal oversight. Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Experience on the P-8 or similar commercial-derivative military aircraft system is helpful but not required. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with LO materials and technologies, demonstrated experience integrating LO solutions with advanced propulsion systems, strong understanding of electromagnetic (EM) principles affecting radar cross section (RCS) and signature, and practical experience using computational electromagnetic (CEM) solvers to design, predict, and optimize low observable systems. Key Responsibilities: Perform design, analysis, and integration activities for LO integration of the propulsion subsystem into an advanced next generation platform, including inlets, nozzle/exhaust and airframe interfaces. Use CEM solvers to model and analyze RCS, scattering, and signature behavior; iterate designs to meet LO requirements. Apply electromagnetic theory to assess materials, shapes, and structural features that affect signature across relevant frequency bands. Define and execute test plans and validation activities (lab and range) to verify LO performance and support correlation between simulation and measurement. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (structures, propulsion, materials, flight test, systems engineering, producibility) to ensure integrated solutions meet performance, manufacturing, and maintainability needs. Prepare technical documentation, specifications, design packages, and presentations for internal and customer review. Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), is looking for an Associate or Mid-Level SAR Signal & Image Processing Engineer (Level 2 or 3) to join the Kent Space SEIT team located in Kent, WA (Seattle, WA) . This position will focus on developing radar analysis and algorithms in a mission-critical environment that directly empowers our defensive capabilities. You will develop and validate requirements for Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) systems, perform trade studies, design and run tests to verify performance, support engineering compliance, and provide lifecycle root-cause analysis. Work is performed under general direction with contributions to proposals as needed. This role emphasizes algorithm design and software implementation: develop and evaluate radar algorithms (signal and image processing, detection, tracking, imaging) and translate them into production-ready code. Proficiency in Python or C++ for algorithm development, prototyping, and data analysis is required; experience with signal and image processing toolsets, real-time software constraints, requirements tracing, and test-program design is highly valued. Strong analytical, communication, and customer-focused skills with a commitment to quality and safety are essential.
