Engineering Technician IV
JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges. JOB SUMMARY - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES An Engineering Technician IV provides support to the engineering and design staff by performing a variety of more complex or non-routine assignments during the installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, calibration, testing, fabrication, construction, and operation of diverse electronic/mechanical equipment and systems in accordance with engineering specifications. Employee will be responsible for the following functions/duties: Install, monitor, and service equipment and systems at the company and the client sites Assist with the test and evaluation, check-out, and certification tasks Perform validations/verifications of various electronic systems Review engineering change proposals for equipment impacts Assist in accomplishing engineering change instructions Develop technical/engineering data for planned maintenance systems, technical manuals, troubleshooting procedures, drawing updates, operation procedures, and maintainability improvements Support systems engineering activities with subject matter expertise Establish and maintain a filing system, databases, and logs for tracking project status and inventory Assist in providing the on-site customer interface for equipment/system installation, testing, fabrication, and other engineering tasks Comply with engineering documentation standards, engineering plans, system specification, and test procedures Provide technical data and evaluation for components, equipment, and systems consistent with engineering plans, layout, and contract requirements Serve as a senior technician and assist in the training of other technicians Support engineers in the development of technical proposals and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work Use established policies and procedures and subject matter knowledge to complete assignments of moderate complexity that vary in nature and sequence Perform other job-related duties, as required RANGE POSITION DESCRIPTION The ideal candidate will have knowledge of telemetry antennas and associated sub-systems. Job duties include, but are not limited to, operations, maintenance, and sustainment engineering support of telemetry tracking systems, data transmission, and network systems under general technical guidance. Real-time support duties include establishing end-to-end connectivity for voice, video, and data communications. The candidate will monitor real-time missions for abnormalities and troubleshooting issues as they arise utilizing RF spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and other electronics and communications test equipment. This role requires a working knowledge of local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN) and hands-on experience terminating and testing coaxial, network, and fiber optic cabling. The candidate must be able to work independently as well as part of a team, making critical decisions in high-pressure situations. Duties include performing preventative maintenance on all equipment in accordance with established procedures (Local Work Cards), operating procedures, tech manuals, and other official documentation, as well as creating trouble tickets using the Maximo database to track work performed. Regular communication with customers and counterparts through email, phone, virtual, and in-person meetings is expected. The candidate must be able to work overtime, including weekends, as well as varying shifts and site locations to accommodate mission support objectives. Some travel may be required. JOB REQUIREMENTS DICTATE: Strict adherence to Quality Assurance and Safety guidelines across all scopes of work, as well as meeting all ancillary training requirements. The applicant must be able to achieve certification in communications Tower Climbing/Rescue, Forklift operations, and Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs), perform work at elevated locations, and successfully meet all Section Master Task List milestones within set timeliness. In addition, the applicant will possess or be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance within 180 days of hire with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 products. Experience with the Maximo database for purchase requisitions, tool control, maintenance, and logistics tracking. Prior experience in tower climbing and operating elevated work platforms (boom and scissor lifts). Experience in project/property management and team leadership. Certifications in CompTIA Security, Electronics, Networking, and Linux Red Hat 8 are a plus. Active Commercial Driver's License (CDL) desired. REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE Vocational/technical training beyond high school from an academic institution, or military equivalent training and a minimum of seven (7) years of job-related experience are required for this position. In addition, an Engineering Technician IV must possess the following qualifications: Working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software Excellent communication and analytical skills Planning/organizational skills Ability to work under established deadlines The candidate must possess a valid, state-issued driver's license. Must possess, or be able to obtain and maintain, a DoD Secret clearance within 180 days of hire, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen. SALARY The expected salary range for this position is $67,000 to $75,000 annually. Note: The salary range offered for this position is a good faith description of the expected salary range this role will pay. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness are required. Travel to remote company work locations may be required.
