Production Test Technician
Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Production Test Technician to join our manufacturing team. Production Test Technician: Perform functional testing on electronic assemblies and finished products Troubleshoot and diagnose issues using test equipment Document test results and report defects Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive testing of assembled electronic devices using automated test equipment and manual methods to verify functionality and performance. Perform quality inspections on printed circuit boards (PCBs) utilizing precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and ohmmeters. Utilize surface mount technology (SMT) techniques for assembling and reworking surface-mount components on PCBs, ensuring adherence to IPC 610 standards. Analyze test data collected during production runs to identify trends, anomalies, or defects that could impact product quality. Debug and troubleshoot electronic assemblies by interpreting schematics, circuit diagrams, and test results to isolate issues. Implement quality control procedures including visual inspections via automated optical inspection (AOI) systems and manual review. Support continuous improvement initiatives by documenting test procedures, updating schematics, and recommending process enhancements for efficiency and accuracy. Use hand tools such as soldering irons, screwdrivers, and precision tweezers for assembly adjustments or repairs as needed. Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure compliance with quality assurance protocols and production schedules. Skills Proficiency in surface mount technology (SMT) assembly and rework techniques. Strong understanding of quality control standards, including IPC 610 specifications for electronic assemblies. Experience with automated optical inspection (AOI) systems and data collection tools. Mechanical knowledge related to PCB handling, component placement, and assembly processes. Ability to interpret schematics, technical drawings, and manufacturing documentation accurately. Skilled in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and ohmmeters for inspection purposes. Familiarity with soldering techniques, hand tools, and test automation equipment. Analytical skills necessary for troubleshooting complex electronic circuits and identifying root causes of failures. Knowledge of manufacturing best practices combined with attention to detail for consistent quality assurance. Effective communication skills for documenting findings, updating procedures, and collaborating across teams.
