Cardiac Catheterization Lab Specialist

The Cardiac Catheterization Lab Specialist is responsible for providing direct patient care in the Cardiac Cath lab, Peripheral Vascular Lab, Cath Lab Holding Room, and the Electrophysiology Lab, performing and functioning as a member of a multidisciplinary team. In addition, this role is expected to function and provide high quality, safe, culturally competent cost-effective patient care in all areas of operations by means of assessment, planning, evaluation, and intervention/follow up. Essential Job Function Assesses patients' medical history and current condition to prepare them for cardiac catheterization procedures. Prepares specialized equipment and monitors patients during procedures, ensuring safety and optimal outcomes. Maintains a safe environment, adheres to universal precautions, and utilizes personal protective equipment to minimize risks and ensure the well-being of patients and staff. Collaborates with the healthcare team, including physicians and technicians, to support smooth and successful procedures. Provides patient education and support before, during, and after cardiac Cath lab procedures. Adheres to professional advancement program requirements, engages in ongoing education, and mentors others to promote professional growth and development to stay updated with the latest advancements in the field, leading to improved patient care and clinical expertise. Education Required: Graduate from one or more of the following programs required: Radiology Technology, Respiratory Therapy, Cardiovascular Technology Program, or appropriately recognized Paramedic program. Experience Required: 1 - 2 years of Respiratory Therapy experience, or 1 - 2 years of Radiology Technical experience, 2 years Paramedic experience, or >2 years of Critical Care or Emergency Department nursing experience.Preferred: Cardiac specialty experience. Radiologic Technologist WEO

The Radiologic Technologist Weekend Option performs medical exams using X-rays or other diagnostic imaging examinations on patients to create images of specific parts of the body. The images are then interpreted by a doctor for diagnosis and monitoring of disease. Working under direct supervision, this position prepares patients for the exams, moves patients to the correct position, operates the equipment, and uses their knowledge and skill to minimize the radiation dose to the patient. This role has a weekend option, in which the staff member is required to commit to WEO requirements and work two shifts within the WEO window for a premium rate. Essential Job Function Follows instructions from physicians regarding which area of the patient?s body needs imaging. Talks the patient through the procedure and answer questions to lower their anxiety and increase their understanding of the procedure. Positions the patient correctly and adjusts the imaging equipment to the specified position to create quality images of specific parts of the body.
