Working in a variety of areas, the Radiology Technologists at Riverside gain valuable knowledge and continue to grow on a daily basis. These technologists work in the Emergency Department, Operating Room, Same Day Surgery Center, Endoscopy, use portables to cover the entire hospital (ICU, PACU, NICU, et.), plus work with our inpatient population and outpatient walk-ins. This fast-paced diagnostic department is a great place for a technologist who is looking for variety! This Radiology Technologist prepares patients for examinations and performs diagnostic radiology procedures following guidelines set by OhioHealth and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). This is a full-time, day shift position working three 12-hour shifts with an every other weekend rotation. Call is required one 8-hour shift per month. Responsibilities And Duties: 40% Performs Diagnostic procedures. Conducts routine radiographic studies in diagnostics. Conducts routine and specialized fluoroscopy studies utilizing digital fluroscope equipment; Maintains proficiency in each of these areas. Provides radiation safety for operator and patient. 40% Obtains diagnostic radiographs Places patient in proper positions for procedures, adhering to department policy regarding routine. Positions anatomical part in position necessary to obtain optimum radiograph. Observes patient throughout procedure and responds to any observed change period manipulates equipment in proper manner, adjust technical factors to assure optimal images, and observes equipment safety. Critiques images inputs through only those optimal for interpretation. Repeats images as necessary. 15% Prepares patients for examination Receives orders/request for procedures from physician, nursing unit, or radiology office and makes necessary entries in electronic medical record. Greets patient and friendly manner and makes positive identification. Explains procedure in clear, understandable terms. Ensures all necessary clothing and jewelry is removed and patient is properly attired. Starts IBS and draws up medications. 5% Performs miscellaneous related duties Assumes duties of electronic imaging technician when necessary. Processes images for interpretation. Imports and burn CDs. Performs QC tests on X ray unit and impacts as necessary. Works with students enrolled in radiography program under program guidelines. Cath Lab Specific: The Cath Lab Radiologic Technologist must be competent as the assistant to the Interventional Cardiologist for diagnostic and interventional procedures in roles that include scrubbing, monitoring, and circulating. The technologist must have knowledge of the X-ray equipment in use, hemodynamic monitoring, coronary and peripheral anatomy, and sterile technique. Position requires on-call coverage. Responsibilities And Duties: 50% Performs duties of Technologist as needed: Prepares patient for imaging examination; assists radiologist during examinations; starts IVs; draws up Medication/ contrast media and safely performs intravenous administrative via manual or automatic injection; arranges for patient transportation; maintains cleanliness of equipment and work area. 20% Coordinates daily workload with other clinical sections and departments: Adjusts patient flow by scheduling workload and staff to maximize equipment utilization; coordinates preparatory procedures with nursing units; arranges with patients and physicians for follow-up examinations; coordinates out-patient scheduling with Central Scheduling to maximize number of out-patient slots available; organizes and directs section personnel to minimize patient waiting time and maximize efficiency; implements continuous quality improvement program in compliance with American College of Radiology standards to enhance utilization of resources; monitors technical quality of patient care, defers major problems to the Manager, Performs basic and advanced Electronic Medical Record EMR functions e.g. patient arrival, complete, edit and billing. 15% Assists with the requirements of orientation, training, required competencies and OhioHealth University courses; instructs students and employees in training sessions; provides coaching and input into employee performance evaluations; orders supplies; establishing inventory control methods to assure operation within the budget; and monitors technical reliability and vendor repair of units. Assumes some managerial functions as needed. 10% Participates in OhioHealth Innovation Council and other meetings as designated. Sonographic Arterial Duplex examinations of the upper or lower extremities either with or without provocative maneuvers. 5. Sonographic Venous Duplex examinations of the upper or lower extremities either with or without provocative maneuvers. 6. Sonographic Doppler Venous Waveform Analysis of the upper or lower extremities for the evaluation of venous insufficiency or reflux. 7. Sonographic Duplex examinations of Hemodialysis Access Sites including AV Fistulas and AV Grafts. 8. Sonographic Venous Duplex examinations of the upper or lower extremities with concurrent venous marking and vessel evaluation for pre-surgical planning. 9.
