In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in both patient and non-patient areas. The Environmental Service Technician is essential to ensuring that the organization operates smoothly while adhering to professional cleaning standards, safety protocols, and infection control procedures. Qualifications & Skills: High School Diploma. Valid New York State Drivers License Previous experience in building cleaning or janitorial work is preferred. Ability to understand and follow detailed but straightforward oral and written instructions. Ability to interact courteously with staff, officials, and the public. Capable of bending, kneeling, lifting, and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, up to 6 hours per day. Willingness to work occasionally in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow. Key Responsibilities: Perform general and detailed cleaning of rooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, stairways, and windows, following standard operating procedures and schedules. Use brooms, mops, and floor equipment to sweep, mop, strip, and wax floors. Operate vacuum cleaners and/or shampooers to clean carpets, rugs, upholstered furniture, and blinds. Refill supplies, remove trash, and replace trash liners as needed. Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors, and sills to ensure a clean and sanitized environment. Follow safety and infection control protocols, including proper storage and use of cleaning chemicals, and appropriate placement of “wet floor” signs. Open and close buildings according to established security procedures. Complete assigned cleaning tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
