The Cast Film Process Engineer will be supporting the successful translation of novel membrane designs from the lab to prototype scale and eventual commercial manufacturing scale. The individual will help facilitate successful scale up of R&D materials, correlate of key coating parameters to product manufacturability and performance, and ensure consistent quality. The individual will also be expected to support capital projects that deliver improved capabilities for prototyping and manufacturing. The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following: Coating polymer films with thicknesses around 200 micrometers and below. Working hands-on with coating technologies such as slot die, gravure, or other coating methods. Managing roll-to-roll (R2R) web handling activities. Supporting ancillary process infrastructure (emissions control systems, clean rooms, QC equipment, etc.). Provide operation scheduling support to efficiently execute both research and production coating activities. Interacting with membrane development team to convey impact of coating parameters, design materials that deliver desired performance targets and develop and execute quality control measurements of materials for release to customers. Providing guidance to the application development engineers and business leads to solve complex customer problems. Supporting team to launch new products and implement quality improvements. Assisting in design, selection, and/or implementation of coating technologies and quality control systems at prototype and manufacturing scale. Processing and analyzing lab and manufacturing data in support of product development efforts. Required Qualifications and Characteristics: Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field or equivalent experience. Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience using coating technology to make polymer films and commercialize products made from casting technologies. Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple, complex, time-sensitive projects. Demonstrated ability to use statistical analysis of manufacturing and quality data in order to support decision making regarding product qualification, quality and release. Excellent communication skills, fostering good working relationships. Ability to travel up to 10% of the time. Preferred Qualifications and Characteristics: 10 years’ experience in coatings technology to make membranes and membrane composites. Experience with fluoropolymer membranes preferred. Fills out student rotation evaluations honestly and ethically. Ability to provide constructive criticism to students during their rotation. Functions as a clinical instructor for students rotating through the Medical Imaging department. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Patient Care * a. Obtains complete clinical history, gathers examination data and assesses for contraindicating conditions. * b. Follows established procedures for the administration of contrast medias so that no patient condition deteriorates, and no patient suffers undue pain, due to error or poor technique. * c. Ensures that all studies have proper patient identification and right and left marker are utilized appropriately. * d. Reviews radiographic images for clinically acceptable results and releases patients. * e. Responds to emergency situations and provides for the restocking of the crash cart and maintenance of life support equipment. * f. Assists other technologists in all modalities when needed. * g. Observes patient condition and properly evaluates situations when physician intervention is necessary so that no patient condition deteriorates as the result of misjudgment. * h. Verifies two unique patient identifiers and correct clinical order prior to performing a procedure per policy. * i. Ensures patient's privacy and comfort is accommodated. * j. Demonstrates competence in the determination and application of appropriate procedures, equipment, supplies and techniques based on the age of patients. * k. Organizes schedule, time and priorities so that required activities are accomplished within designated time frames. * l. Follows physicians instructions when assisting with procedures and exams. * m. Uses critical thinking skills. * n. Asks clarifying questions. * o. Seeks clarification on ambiguous orders. * p. Understands, demonstrates and documents preprocedural verification and Time Out process when appropriate. * q. Demonstrates and understands pre-and-post procedural care. * r. Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment in accordance with infection control policy and department schedule. * d. Ability to operate all aspects of the system. * e. Ability to operate all radiographic equipment in a safe and competent manner. Assuring that equipment is not abused and is left in good working order. Education and Communication * a. Patiently and clearly explains purpose and nature of exam to patient prior to starting of procedure, to minimize anxiety and facilitate cooperation using AIDET; Acknowledge, Introduce, Discuss, Explain, and Thank you of all patients and family members. * b. Ensures that patient's questions, concerns or contraindications are satisfactorily addressed, notifying physician when this cannot be accomplished, prior to the initiation of the procedure. * c. Participates in the orientation and training of departmental employees. * d. Provides patients with preparatory instruction and explanation of procedures. * e. Required documentation is concise, legible and includes precise terminology. * f. Reads email each day scheduled to work and follows through with assignment. * g. Completes mandatory departmental and Hospital-wide education without prompting. Quality Control * a. Consistently produces high quality images including appropriate collimation, shielding, technique selection, penetration and positioning. * b. Ensures that equipment is fully operational prior to each use, by checking for proper calibration and operating deficiencies. * c. Sends all studies to PACS; prints CDs as necessary. All exams are complete in RIS including image oriented, marked, labeled, and notes are accurate. * d. Studies that have been transmitted after hours by teleradiography are printed and scanned into PACS, if applicable. * e. Checks for prior exams and assures that they are loaded, if necessary, and properly labeled prior to sending to PACS. Operations * a. Restocks linens and supplies, and maintains Diagnostic Imaging Services in clean and orderly condition. * b. Transports patients, positions patients, and helps them on and off procedure table. * c. Performs patient charging activities on the day the service is rendered. * d. Applies shielding, supportive and immobilization devices and equipment. * e. Willingly lends knowledge and assistance to others upon request as needed and routinely as time is available, without prompting, so that all working time is used for departmental advantage. * f. At Houston Methodist, the MRI Technologist II WA position is responsible for a variety of routine to complex diagnostic MRI procedures to include common and special MRI exams of high difficulty. This position is a member of the direct patient care team and is fully competent in all aspects of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) exams. MRI Technologist - Evenings

At Houston Methodist, the MRI Technologist I position is responsible for completing a variety of routine diagnostic MRI procedures to include exams of moderate complexity with progression towards exams of higher complexity. This position provides direct assistance to physicians with all diagnostic and special MRI procedures. The MRI Technologist I position delivers exceptional patient care and adheres to MRI exam standards and guidelines established by governing agencies to ensure optimal patient safety and customer service. This position is a member of the direct patient care team. PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Promotes a positive work environment and contributes to a dynamic, team focused work unit that actively helps one another to achieve optimal department results. Collaborates with all members of the patient care team by actively communicating and reporting pertinent patient care information and data in a comprehensive manner. SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Performs diagnostic MRI procedures to include common and special MRI exams. MRI exams use magnetism, radio waves, and a computer to produce images of body structures and gives insight on the chemical makeup of tissues. Proactively assesses, identifies and responds to the needs of the patient for adjustment or intervention to optimize patient care, image quality and patient experience. This includes: positioning, physiology, procedure preparation, and technical factors. Modifies technical factors to achieve desired imaging results and recognizes complications and limitations associated with certain procedures. Provides direct assistance to physicians during diagnostic or special MRI procedures, including assisting with sterile technique. Provides accurate explanations and instructions to patients and family members at an appropriate level utilizing verbal and non-verbal skills, terminology and language. QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Follows safety standards and conducts all imaging procedures accordingly. Maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures, regularly practices aseptic techniques, and ensures compliance with radiation safety and infection control procedures. Complies with job role, department and hospital safety standards, practices and policies. Reports ¿near misses¿ and inputs errors promptly into appropriate hospital patient safety reporting system to improve processes and identify trends. Contributes to identification of corrective actions and improvement activities, and contributes to meeting department and hospital targets for quality and safety. Performs daily imaging equipment quality control (QC) ensuring all imaging equipment is in safe working order prior to use. Reports any malfunctions to management and regularly practices preventive maintenance procedures; calls for service if needed. Utilizes critical thinking skills to observe and proactively address patient reactions (i.e. contrast media and medications) or potential outcomes and obtains assistance, as appropriate. FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provides accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures. Enters charges at the time service is delivered. Uses resources efficiently; does not waste supplies.
