Physician - Orthopedic Care

JOB SUMMARY Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Orthopedic Surgeon will expertly treat a diverse range of acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries and pain, utilizing both medical and surgical interventions. The surgeon must be comfortable working in a rural environment performing the full spectrum of general orthopedic procedures including total joint arthroplasties, sports medicine/arthroscopic procedures, trauma, and amputations. The Orthopedic Surgeon will participate in various quality improvement activities. WhidbeyHealth Orthopedic Surgeons are expected to be emotionally resilient with the ability to communicate effectively and must have the physical stamina to cope with the demands of performing surgery. To ensure success, our Surgeons should have superb organizational skills and the ability to lead and manage a team effectively while working under pressure. Must also have a high degree of manual dexterity, good hand-eye coordination, and excellent visuospatial awareness. WhidbeyHealth is a Level 4 trauma center, and the surgery clinic is in very close proximity to the hospital. The practice includes a full-time orthopedic PA, the hospital includes 24/7 in house physicians in the ED and daytime hospitalists in house and nocturnal tele-hospitalists. Call requirements vary based on hospital need, typically a low intensity schedule of 1:3. All WhidbeyHealth Orthopedic Surgeons must have a MD or DO degree, be Board eligible or Board certified in general surgery and able to obtain and maintain an unrestricted medical and DEA license in the state of Washington.
