Cytogenetic Technologist Camden, NJ Monday – Friday 7:30am-4pm (somewhat flexible). $10,000 Sign-On Bonus The Cytogenetics Technologist performs routine and specialized activities related to the operation of the Cytogenetics laboratory including microscope analysis, tissue culture, cell harvesting, karyotyping on a variety of tissue specimens (bone marrow, blood, tumor tissues). Responsibility 1. Performs culture set-up (bone marrow, peripheral blood, tissue) and harvest, slide making and slide staining for cytogenetics and FISH Analysis and interpretation of results. 2. Image captures appropriate number of cells on each case on the Department's computerized imaging system. Prepares karyograms for each case on the imaging system and analyzes them for the presence of chromosomal defects. 3. Performs appropriate banding and staining procedures to ensure optimal visibility of chromosome structure. Performs various additional testing being able to determine when specialized techniques are necessary based on initial chromosome analysis. 4. Validates, runs and analyzes interphase fluorescence in-situ Hybridization (FISH) studies, summarizes the tests results, maintains clinical and internal documentation files 5. Trains and/or supervises students as well as new & existing employees. Properly documents training. Develops and performs employee competency assessments. 6. Demonstrates excellent customer service skills; effectively communicates with personnel within the laboratory and throughout health system as appropriate; handles inquires expeditiously. 7. Maintains knowledge of and follows all hospital policies and procedures as well as laboratory general and department specific policies and procedures. 8. Remains current on regulatory and accreditation standards and new developments and trends in the field; participates in, reviews, and submits results in CAP/API PT Programs; involved with inspection/self-inspection process including checklist completion. Experience Required 2-3 years' experience in FISH and Cytogenetics preferred Education Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Cytogenetics from an accredited college or university preferred OR Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in one of the chemicals, physical, or biological sciences. License/Certification Requirements CG (ASCP) certification preferred; must maintain certification Appropriate experience in lieu of certification may be considered

Pathologist Assistant

Pathologist Assistant Bakersfield, CA Summary/Objective Under the supervision of a pathologist, the Certified Pathologist Assistant performs gross examination, sampling and dictation of human organs. Provides assistance during intraoperative consultations such as frozen sections and gross examinations. The Pathologist Assistant requires certification from the American Association of Pathologists' Assistants or the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). Essential Functions Preparation, gross description, dictation and dissection of human tissue Select representative sections for embedding, staining and microscopic evaluation Ensure appropriate specimen accessioning Obtains tissue such as blood and toxicological material for studies such as flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry Photograph pertinent gross specimens as needed Assist with frozen section tissue selection and preparation Retrieve the patient's medical chart and other pertinent data for review with the attending pathologist Confer with the attending pathologist to identify any special techniques or procedures to be utilized Ensures the proper maintenance of equipment Provision of adequate supplies Cleaning of grossing stations Disposal of biological and administrative waste Solve any discrepancies or other issues that may arise Minimum Job Requirements Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences or related field Successful completion of an NAACLS-accredited pathologists' assistant program preferred. Basic knowledge of human anatomy, macro-surgical techniques, and general laboratory skills. Demonstrated ability to obtain and prepare tissue for evaluation and to provide assistance to pathologists in a timely and quality manner. Knowledge/ability to become knowledgeable in voice recognition software, internet and multiple-interfaced systems, various laboratory information systems, Excel, and MS Word or equivalent applications. Histology Lab Supervisor Cape Coral, Florida Tues-Sat 9pm-5:30am Position Summary: As a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor, you will have the overall responsibility for the planning, coordination, evaluation, and supervision of all technical and/or operational activities and personnel in the Anatomic Pathology department. You will be responsible for performing duties to meet quality assurance, safety and accreditation requirements in the laboratory. The Laboratory Supervisor is also responsible for helping in the implementation of all area procedures and operations as well as ensuring that metrics established to measure quality, production and efficiency are strictly followed. Recommend and endorse test methods to include validation, documentation and implementation of test systems Report any problem cases and/or abnormal findings to the Medical Laboratory Director to ensure timely resolution and/or follow up Review all patient case reports and images for accuracy prior to review by a Medical Laboratory Director. Makes corrections as necessary Monitor laboratory work performance to determine staffing resources utilization; review monthly work statistics and budget reports; establish work performance standards and adjust staffing levels as needed Education: Master of Arts or Master of Science Degree from an accredited institution with a major in one the chemical, physical, or biological sciences, and subsequent to graduation, has had at least four years of pertinent laboratory experience of which not less than two years have been spent working in a clinical laboratory having a director at the doctoral level OR- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in one of the chemical, physical, or biological sciences with the addition of the successful completion of a course of at least 1 year experience/training/training course in assigned specialty Experience: At least six (6) or more years experience (high complexity testing) preferred in the assigned specialty. (A minimum of one (1) year of internal service in the designated specialty as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist III is typically required for promotion to this level.) Pathologist Assistant Mountain View, CA Full-Time Days Key Responsibilities: Describes gross anatomic features, dissects surgical specimens and prepares tissue for histological examinations. Corrects and finalizes gross description section of surgical pathology report following transcription. Assures appropriate specimen accessioning Obtains the clinical history and photographs all pertinent specimens and microscopic slides as directed by the pathologists. Confers with pathologists (when needed) to identify special stains, techniques and procedures that will be necessary (i.e. pre-processing immunohistochemical or special stains, cultures, flow cytometry, smears) and notifies appropriate personnel. Performs full autopsy service and is responsible for prosecting cases. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree required.
